Climate, health, recycling : the three challenges of building materials

Just like good old vinyl records, our newsletters now have two sides: the A-Side provides a choice of articles revolving around a central theme that is changing the way we design, build and operate cities and infrastructure, and the B-Side (on your inbox in a fortnight!) provides suggestions for further reading on the same topic.

Reducing the use of non-renewable resources and CO2 emissions, limiting emissions of toxic compounds, facilitating recycling: discover in our new newsletter the driving forces behind the transformation of building materials.

Analysis

Bio-based, smart, recyclable: the three mutations of construction materials

After being hit with the health and environmental crises, construction materials are experiencing a metamorphosis. From simple solutions to the most high-tech, the sector is buzzing.

Projection

Multiple solutions for reusing and recycling construction materials

Faced with the climate emergency and resource scarcity, the world of construction materials continues its quest for circularity.

Opinion

What role do materials (really) play in a building life-cycle assessment?

With the RE2020 currently being finalized, regulation is putting emphasis on bio-based materials in construction. Is it at the risk of forgetting energy efficiency and overlooking innovative materials in other industries? We delve deeper into the topic with Bruno Peuportier, research director at the VINCI ParisTech Environment Research Lab, and Jean-François Dhôte, research director at the UMR INRAE-ONF Biofora research lab.
